A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a credentialed nutrition expert who has completed a minimum of a master's degree in nutrition or a related field, an accredited supervised practice program, and passed a national registration examination. RDNs are the gold standard in nutrition care and are qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy and individualized nutrition counseling.
An RDN is different from a general "nutritionist", the RDN credential is regulated and requires rigorous education, training, and ongoing continuing education.
MS stands for Master of Science, Shadia holds a master's degree in nutrition, which is part of the advanced academic preparation required to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
LDN stands for Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, a state licensure credential that authorizes a dietitian to practice nutrition counseling in licensed states. It works alongside the RDN credential and confirms Shadia meets the professional standards required to practice in her jurisdiction.
IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, the highest credential available in lactation care worldwide, awarded by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
Shadia holds both her RDN and IBCLC credentials, which means she can provide integrated support covering both maternal nutrition and breastfeeding, a rare and valuable combination for new mothers and families.
As an IBCLC, Shadia provides expert breastfeeding and lactation support integrated with personalized nutrition guidance. This includes support for:
This combination of credentials is rare and highly valuable for mothers who are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Most lactation consultants focus solely on breastfeeding technique and support. Most dietitians focus solely on nutrition. Shadia's dual credentials mean you receive integrated care addressing both sides, the nutritional needs of the mother and the breastfeeding relationship, in one place, without needing to see two separate providers.
Yes. If your primary concern is breastfeeding, you can book a session with Shadia and let her know your focus when submitting your inquiry. Breastfeeding and lactation support is available as a standalone focus or as part of the Postpartum & Breastfeeding Program.
